What is CHILD STAR?

CHILDSTAR.ie has become the centre-point for casting children in Ireland and an invaluable resource for casting professionals. It is a fully automated website directory specialising in child talent such as actors, models, dancers, singers, musicians, voice-overs, presenters, performers and movie-extras. It's members consist of agency represented artists, students of performing arts schools and independently represented artists - offering the widest range of child talent in one place and the first website of it’s kind in Ireland.

 

WHO CREATED CHILD STAR?

CHILDSTAR.ie was developed by Irish-based child talent & modelling agency, Young Artists Management and a team of professionals with first-hand experience of the child talent management industry in Ireland. CHILDSTAR.ie is the result of a collaboration between agencies, schools, casting directors and industry personnel.

We fully understand the needs of agencies, schools and casting professionals and we have built CHILDSTAR with this in mind - making it as user-friendly and efficient as possible.

 

HOW DOES CHILD STAR WORK?

CHILD STAR is used by casting professionals to find talent for projects that they are casting. Agencies may also use the directory to promote their clients and find newcomers who are seeking representation.

The directory is now live to all the principal casting directors in Ireland as well as casting professionals from production companies, advertising agencies, pr companies and commercial photographers who have been involved in the casting for major FEATURE FILMS, TELEVISION DRAMAS and CHILDREN'S TV SHOWS as well as countless TV COMMERCIALS and PHOTOSHOOTS for a wide range of brands.

Is CHILD STAR an Agency?

No. It should be stressed that CHILDSTAR is NOT an agency. ChildStar.ie is an automated directory service which provides listings and profiles for members, enabling them to be seen by casting professionals. Users manage their own accounts and deal directly with casting personnel in relation to auditions and offers of work. As opposed to an agency, there is no commission deducted from payment on jobs, but instead there is a once-off registration fee for the period. Talent members who register on the site are contacted directly by casting and agent users of the site (not ChildStar). We simply provide the automated service and put everything in place to make this happen and run as efficiently as possible.

 

Who can join CHILD STAR?

As Ireland's premier child talent directory, CHILD STAR is aimed primarily at artists with a playing age of 0-18 years. Our directory combines agency represented artists, students of talent associations and newcomers who are either seeking representation or representing themselves. If you are aged under 18 years, your account must be managed by a parent or guardian.

 

Is my child too young?

There is no minimum age for members on CHILD STAR. The directory consists of new born babies, toddlers, children of all ages and teenagers, all the way up to young adults with a playing age of 0-18 years.

 

I am over 18. Can I join?

Yes. Absolutely. Members who are aged over 18 are welcome to join if you have a playing age of 18 or under. For legal reasons, casting personnel will often cast a person who is aged over 18 to play a younger role.

 

I am represented by an agency / talent association. Can I join?

Yes. Of course. Child Star works closely with agencies and talent associations. Our members consist of artists who are represented by a wide range of established agencies and talent associations in Ireland.

 

What do I get for my membership?

You will receive an interactive profile with a listing in our extensive child talent directory, giving you the chance to be seen by some of the most important casting professionals in Ireland.

What type of work will I be considered for?

As a registered member of CHILDSTAR.ie, you will be considered for feature films, tv commercials, tv dramas, photo-calls, print advertising, catalogue modelling, voice-over work, children's television, presenting, short films, theatre, radio, music and special events.

Who will see my profile?

Only verified casting professionals will have access to your profile when they are logged in to their account. However, you may also grant access to your profile to people you choose by sharing your Viewing PIN or the unique URL of your profile.

We enforce the strictest of security measures before approving casting user accounts to ensure that your personal details will always be safe and secure.

 

Who will see my basic listing?

While your profile page can only be accessed by verified casting professionals (or people with whom you share your Viewing PIN), you also have full control over who can see your basic listing. You can make your basic listing visible to all users without divulging any personal information (eg: using an alias or first name only) and your profile will always be kept private. However, you can also choose to hide your basic listing from the search results at any time and make it visible to 'Registered Users Only' when they are logged in to their account. It's entirely up to you!

 

Do I need to be represented by agency?

No. You can join Child Star and represent yourself. For members who are aged under 18, their parent/guardian will be contacted in relation to castings, giving both independent and agency represented artists exactly the same opportunity.

 

I have no experience. Can I join?

Yes. Absolutely. There are castings for all levels of experience; from acting, modelling, singing, dancing, presenting, performing voice-over work, reality tv and movie-extra work. Casting personnel are always on the lookout for talented newcomers when casting children and Child Star gives you the opportunity to show them what you're made of!

 

How do I get representation with an agency?

By selecting 'Independent / Seeking Representation', agencies can contact you if they are interested in recruiting you (or your child) as a new client.

 

Am I guaranteed work?

No. It should be stressed that, due to the nature of the industry, it is impossible to guarantee work for members. The decision to cast members is not made by Child Star. This is always made by industry personnel. It’s about being in the right place at the right time, and Child Star simply gives you the opportunity to be seen by casting directors, production companies, advertising agencies, PR companies, photographers and industry personnel who are casting children in Ireland.

 

Does CHILDSTAR take commission?

No. There is no commission deducted from payment on jobs. All payments will be made directly to talent members (or their agent). It should be stressed that ChildStar is not an agency, but rather an automated directory which allows talent members to manage their own accounts and deal directly with casting professionals. We simply provide the automated service and put everything in place to make this happen and run as efficiently as possible. As opposed to an agency, we do not take commission, but instead, there is a once-off membership fee for the service.

Can I contact CHILDSTAR by Phone?

As ChildStar.ie is a fully automated website, we do not offer phone support to the general public. There is, however, a dedicated support team of technicians available to users of the site who will respond promptly to your query. If you have a technical issue and would prefer to speak to a technician by phone, you may request this on the support form and include your phone number in order to be contacted by a support technician.
